Wow a ton of people saw this… I wonder what happened? Any ideas guys?

No Idea why you would looes your axle on a plane road.
Maybe a preasure drop in the breaking system, which caused a emergency stop and the (maybe corroded) connection between axle and chassis couldn't handle it, and said farewell.

"When I drove dump truck a few years back I found a spring perches that had almost been rubbed thru. I ended up quitting over the fall out when I refused to drive the truck until they were fixed. They broke while the company owner was driving and he got a ticket. You don't need a certified inspector to spot problems like that if the driver does what they are supposed to do at the start of every driving shift." OFFU Facebook fan

Its not surprising here for that to happen with all the roustabout companies that pop up over night. Even though the cab looks like a newer Freightliner, the roads out here are bad.

Even though this is what I had to deal with last night in the field because one of our dumbass drivers decided not to do his pretrip.
Lost the whole dual, hub, drum and tires still connected. inspected this morning and the axle is now shot.
